Refund Policy
GMA Attorneys is committed to providing professional legal services in a fair and transparent manner. This Refund Policy applies to consultations, legal services, and other payments made to the Firm.
By making a payment, you acknowledge that you have read and accepted this Refund Policy.
1. Consultation Fees
Consultation fees secure a specific appointment date and time.

More than 24 hours' notice: A full refund may be granted, or the consultation may be rescheduled.

Less than 24 hours' notice: Refunds are generally unavailable, although the Firm may allow a rescheduled appointment at its discretion.

Failure to attend: Consultation fees are non-refundable.
2. Online Consultations
Once an online consultation has commenced, the consultation fee is non-refundable, regardless of whether further legal services are required.
Where technical issues beyond the client's control prevent the consultation, GMA Attorneys may, at its discretion, reschedule the appointment.
3. Legal Fees
Legal fees are generally non-refundable once work has commenced.
This includes reviewing documents, legal research, drafting, legal advice,
negotiations, correspondence, court preparation, court appearances, and other professional services. Clients remain responsible for all work completed before the mandate ends.
4. Deposits and Retainers
Deposits or retainers are applied to legal fees and authorised disbursements.
Any unused trust funds remaining after completion or termination of the mandate will be refunded once the trust account has been reconciled and all outstanding fees and disbursements have been deducted.
5. Disbursements
Disbursements incurred on a client's behalf—including court filing fees, sheriff's fees, advocate's fees, expert witness fees, Deeds Office charges, Master of the High Court fees, courier costs, and government charges—are generally non-refundable once incurred.
7. Refund Method
Approved refunds will normally be made using the original payment method unless otherwise agreed.
For security reasons, refunds will only be paid to the original payer.
8. Processing Time
Approved refunds are generally processed within 7–14 business days, although processing times may vary depending on your bank or payment provider.
9. Discretion
Each refund request is considered on its own merits.
Nothing in this policy limits any rights available under South African law or the professional obligations applicable to legal practitioners.
